Brandon Nightingale is a photographer based in Portland, Oregon.

Originally from Lawrence, Kansas, Brandon spent much of his junior high and high school years in the darkroom. A formative experience at the Photography at the Summit workshop—led by fellow Lawrencian and National Geographic editor Robert Clark—sparked his early passion for photojournalism. He later moved to Ventura, California, where he earned a BA in Visual Journalism from Brooks Institute of Photography in 2006.

After graduation, Brandon relocated to Los Angeles, working a mix of freelance gigs as a photo assistant and crew member on film sets—always with his Leica in hand. A chance opportunity led him to a role with renowned National Geographic photographer Gerd Ludwig. As Gerd’s Studio Manager, Brandon handled editing and toning for magazine assignments, traveling to run workshops, and managed the production of fine art prints and gallery exhibitions.

In parallel, Brandon honed his skills in web design and development, an interest that started in his early teens and eventually grew into a full-time profession.

Today, he’s returning to his roots, using his free time to explore the world through a documentary lens. He is currently accepting select photography and photo editing assignments, please reach out.
