The Gorge

A work in progress

Upon moving to Portland, Oregon in 2018 I immediately fell in love with the dramatic expanse of The Columbia River Gorge. On weekends I would bike down Old Highway 30 chasing the waterfalls, or head out to Hood River for a beer, or lie on the beach at Rooster Rock with a gaggle of friends. Every time I traveled through, my curiosity piqued, and I felt a rush thinking of the immense history and ecology of the place.

In 2024 I finally caved to the inspiration and bought a Pentax 67. I drove down the 84 till I reached an exit I had never been down before - The Bonneville Dam, and after shooting one roll of film my heart was full, and I was hooked.

The images below are just a handful of frames from a dozen or so day trips I've taken so far. I hope to formalize this into a larger photo essay as I continue exploring and meeting new people. If I've photographed you, please reach out and I'll be sure to send you a print. Thank you.
